EXCIPIENT: MENTHOL - ALLANTOIN 

AG Contains no fillers. The base is Sweet Almond Oil

WHAT MAKES ATHLETES GEL UNIQUE ABOVE ALL TOPICAL PRODUCTS IN THE MARKET:

Athletes Gel Therapeutic Goods Manufacturer in Australia, Quest Pharmaceuticals, defined it’s uniqueness for Patent in the following summary;

“ Of the heat rubs and over the counter topical gels available in the market today, most are either;      

1. a) water based creams that give a lighter texture but use smaller active inputs due to stability constraints or
2. b) completely anhydrous with wax thickeners; this allows for higher active inputs but produces a greasy texture.

 The use of an alternative thickener in the athletes gel allowed for the creation of a lighter (non-greasy) product with high active inputs. This coupled with the use of light carrier oils also reduces the rub in time of the product. As the thickener and carrier oil are both excipients in the formulation; releasing the full ingredients list (i.e. including excipients) will reveal the unique combination of carrier & thickener, allowing for the product to be copied.

The Base:

The Athletes Gel base consists of Sweet Almond oil. This permeation enhancer acts with Clove oil to assist in the transfer of ingredients through follicles and pores.Both enhancers are high in Oleic Acid which aid permeation and assist immune cells in the identification of inflammation. This leads to a faster immune response and faster resolution of  inflammation. Capsaicin supports the process by reducing resistance and inserting itself into the water resistant lipid bi-layers in the epidermis. Actives are absorbed into dermal layers after passing through the skins protective barrier, the stratum corneum. 

An increase in bloodflow, caused by vasodilation of blood cells, physical activity or applied heat, cause the ingredients which are largely oil based, to be taken up by micro capillaries and drawn into subcutaneous connective tissue.

ATHLETES GEL ANTIOXIDANTS - Capsaicin, Clove Oil, Menthol and Arnica (Sesquiterpenoids)
